A Message from our
President, Sharon Morton …

We’ve had a GREAT third quarter, with lots of CELEBRATIONS going on!  First, WCR Texas Executive Committee selected 10-Programs from all that were submitted by Local Chapters from January through June.  These Programs were then submitted to WCR National for potential recognition at our May 2015 National Conference in Washington, DC.  Give a big shout out to:   Austin Chapter, Collin County Chapter, Fort Bend Chapter (2-programs), Great Northwest Chapter, Heart of Texas Chapter (3-programs), Montgomery County Chapter and Southwest Dallas County Chapter!More celebrating continued with our Award Winners for our State Membership Contest.  April through  June winners were recognized in our second quarter newsletter and July & August are recognized further in this newsletter, but special recognition goes out to the WCR Houston Chapter for garnishing the GRAND PRIZE for the only Chapter meeting their goals!  All received their Award Certificates at our Thursday evening “Bring It On” event held prior to our WCR/TAR Annual Conference, which was highly successful!  Many thanks to State Ways & Means Chair, Melissa Elizondo and her committee, for all of their hard work – see photos within the newsletter!  And, a big Thank You to all of our Chapters who increased their membership and helped to enhance our great network of WCR Members. The Welcome Session at our WCR/TAR Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio featured Darlene Templeton, noted speaker/coach/author – and we all got really “Happy”!  Plus, our 2014 Governors and District Vice Presidents held “Best Practices” and “Transitioning from 2014 to 2015” for our Local Chapter Officers and committee chairs – kudos to them for a job well done!  Our State Committee meetings were very well attended with new ideas and motions brought forth. On to our Governing Board Meeting and our 2015 State Officer Elections!  Congratulations go out to:  Executive Officers – Cathy Mitchell-President, Ethel O’Dell-President Elect, Angela Ochoa-Treasurer and Nancy Garcia-Secretary; Governors – Stacey Buettner, Renee Coulson and Beth Fitzgerald; and District Vice Presidents – Melissa Clinton, Robbie Fenn, Sheryl Hunter, Sherry Jones, Michelle Mihalko, Sonya Powers and Lizeth Smith!  Celebrations for “Joy in the Journey” were the order of the day at the 2015 Installation Ceremony!   You can find contact information and areas served for all 2015 Officers located later in the newsletter.

Back to our September Governing Board meeting for just a minute:  we truly owe a round of applause to Cindy Cox, Vice Chair of our State Bylaws/Standing Rules Committee, her committee members and our illustrious State Parliamentarian, Diane Lauer, for all of their work on updating our State Standing Rules and presenting all of the motions associated with the same.  It was definitely a time-consuming project and we appreciate their diligence and dedication!  ALL presented Standing Rules motions were approved/passed!  WooHoo!

We also Celebrated WCR Texas Scholarship Awards given by our Past State Presidents to:  Tanya Endicott-Collin County Chapter, Betty Mendoza-Southwest Dallas Chapter, Rodney Rowan-Dallas Metro East Chapter, Cindy Cox-San Antonio Chapter, Michelle Murray-Great Northwest Chapter, Peggy McCready-Greater Tarrant County Chapter, and Amanda Fails-Montgomery County Chapter.
