Women’s Council of REALTORS® Texas Chapter:

President’s Remarks… 1st Quarter

We have started the year with optimism and positive energy that we will make a difference for our members.

On January 1s our new Faces of the Texas Chapter social media logo debuted on our Facebook page with Sandra Hunt, Nancy Garcia, Isaac Mahone, Florence Butler, Guadalupe Limas, and Chryel Madden.  Each quarter will see six new faces.  The selection was done by a drawing during the Leadership Orientation.  Hopefully some of our chapters are finding ways to utilize the social media logo with Faces of their own chapter leaders, new members or Strategic Partners.

Our State Officers have been posting regularly to our State Chapter Facebook page  and state blog to keep our members updated and to share information from local chapter meetings as well as National.   We will highlight speakers, presentations, discussions, motivational quotes and books from the outstanding meetings and conferences attended during the year .

Our new state website debuted January 15th.  We appreciate all that have worked to make the site a possibility with a big thank you to Rosanna Hudson, our Technology Chair and her committee.   It is still a work in progress with new additions often.  The goal is 24/7 learning opportunities.

The state chapter has been more visible with direct member engagement through input and feedback from members concerning needs preferences and expectations.  Survey was used  to gather feedback from our 2012 Winter Meeting.  Several state committees will be sending surveys as well for preferences.

The new National Retention Contest ended January 31st with two local chapters as winner.  In the Mega Chapter category, the Dallas Chapter won second place and $300 dollars; the Montgomery County Chapter won third place and $200.

Our WCR University Spring Training Session was held during the TAR/WCR Winter Meeting with outstanding training sessions facilitated by our own members.  First session was “From the Frying Pan into the Fire” with Carolyn Wyckoff and Pat Farrell aided by the local chapter officers from the San Antonio and Hill Country Chapters.  Thanks to Nikki Fulks, Marty Chrisman, Holly Kincaid and Sally Singley – Chairs for the Education/Program, Strategic Partners and Ways and Means Chairs who provided an interactive session.

In order to have more time for training our local chapter officers, many of our committees have worked on their charges by email and conference calls.

We hosted a financially successful Celebrity Waiter Las Vegas Style raising over $16,800 to benefit TREPAC.  Thank you to Sally Singley, W & M chair, her committee members and Sharon Morton, the officer liaison for a job well done.

We celebrated the individuals who have made a significant contribution in 2011 to our organization during the 2012 Awards Luncheon.  Congratulations to Sally Singley, 2011 Affiliate of the Year; Carolyn Wyckoff, our 2011 Member of the Year, Gayla Skates, 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year and Sharon Eddings, our 2011 State President.

This year we once again sponsored a three hour MCE class for our members as well as TAR members.  With the help of Champions School of Real Estate, we were able to offer the class free of charge to our members.

Thanks for a great first quarter and looking forward to the second one!
