Texas Chapter

I recently asked our Local Chapter Secretaries for 3 things.

~One or more positive thought(s) from your experience as Secretary this year
~The best advice you would pass on to a future Secretary
~Your biggest challenge as Secretary this year

I received many responses and will share a few.

Keep everything very organized!

My business has grown greatly with the contacts and friendships I have made. I enjoyed it so much that I have signed on to serve another year as Secretary. I would recommend anyone that wants to be involved to serve on the Board or in a committee.

Secretary is a very easy non time consuming position for someone who wants to be involved.

Remembering to get the minutes ready quickly and sent to the President within one week.

Take copious notes. If you don’t you can count on the fact that someone will call and ask you what someone else said or what the name or date of something was. You better have good notes to refer to and be able to answer those questions.

My best advice to the new Secretary is to keep up and not allow yourself to fall behind.     It is a great, rewarding experience to work with everyone at WCR Texas.

Getting to know members of Executive and Governing  Board on a more personal level, starting with State Orientation.

No matter how detailed you are when taking notes, questions always come up.  Also, type up your minutes as soon as possible.

As you can see, experiences, relationships, involvement and detail shined through, and what great information to pass on to future Secretaries.
