With sold-out tickets and standing room only, our Fiesta Caliente event at La Margarita in San Antonio during the Annual Conference was a big success!  This is just another testament to our organization that “Many hands, hearts and minds contribute to any achievement” (author unknown).

Congratulations to State Ways & Means Chair, Sally Singley of WCR Hill Country Chapter, for planning, organizing and Mc-ing the Event as well as Vice-Chair, Kimberly Shaw of WCR Fort Bend Chapter for handling the successful Silent Auction.  And, many thanks  to Sally’s “sidekicks”  Melissa Elizondo and Isaac Mahone for assisting in the selection of the venue as well as the Mariachis and Flamenco Dancers who performed for us!

We witnessed, again, what talented members we have!  The duo of Isaac Mahone and Fran Valdez of the Hill Country Chapter won the Best Grito Contest – they were loud and proud!  Congratulations to the Fort Bend Chapter for winning Best Chapter Costume featuring their “mustaches and Fiesta attire”!  Special mention also goes to the Dallas Chapter for their colorful Mexican dresses!

TREPAC was with us as an Event Partner this year and brought us the “Minute to Win it” game!  All proceeds from this part of the event went toward members’ annual TREPAC investments.  Thanks to Kaki Lybbert-TAR TREPAC Chair, Mike Detrick-TAR TREPAC  1ST Vice Chair and Christine Seidel-TAR TREPAC 2nd Vice Chair for their participation in the event, along with TAR staff – Leslie Cantu and Andrea Pennington.

We ended the evening by recognizing our 25 Texas Chapters that won 2011 National Gold and Silver Excellence Awards with special recognition to the following 2011 National Chapters of the Year:  San Antonio Chapter-National Mega Chapter of the Year; Highland Lakes Chapter-National Small Chapter of the Year ; and Heart of Texas Chapter-National New Chapter of the Year!  Special recognition also goes to the Montgomery County Chapter for 3rd Place Mega Chapter in the 2012 National Retention Contest.
