This past Spring was extremely challenging for my husband and me.
We lost my precious Mom to Alzheimer’s. It was a difficult time, especially for my 90 year old Dad. They were married 67 years and knew each other since elementary school. When she died, he lived with us while we looked for a new place for him to call home. Along with my sister, we also had the task of packing up all those years of memories from my parents’ home. What a job that was!!! Then, in early May, a trip to the emergency room disclosed a hip fracture. Three pins were inserted within 24 hours. Technology is truly amazing!
Seasons such as this offer unique opportunities to reflect on many things. There have been so many blessings through family, friends, relationships and career. Someone once wrote that gratitude is the memory of the heart, and I will be forever appreciative of the support from WCR—the prayers, calls, emails and postings have been tremendous. As I round the corner and return to a normal life, I continue being in contact with Area B chapters and am very proud of their hard work as they add new members, compete vigorously in the contest, plan great fund raisers and provide members helpful programs at monthly luncheons and great benefits throughout the year.
I look forward to our work ahead and the difference all of us can make in WCR.
